<idPurp>O método DRASTIC foi desenvolvido pela EPA (United States Environmental Protection Agency) com a finalidade de se tornar um sistema padronizado da avaliação da vulnerabilidade de aquíferos frente a eventos de poluição. Este modelo segue as seguintes premissas: o contaminante é inserido na superfície do terreno; o contaminante atinge a água subterrânea através da precipitação pluviométrica; o contaminante possui a mobilidade da água; a área a ser avaliada precisa ter uma dimensão de no mínimo 400 km/². O mapa de vulnerabilidade natural à contaminação pelo método DRASTIC em escala 1:50.000 foi gerado através do agrupamento e classificação dos índices DRASTIC e compõe o Apêndice
B – Mapa de Vulnerabilidade Natural dos Aquíferos – Modelo DRASTIC. O cruzamento realizado por meio de geoprocessamento obteve índices DRASTIC variando de 83 a 205, divididos em quatro intervalos iguais que deram origem as seguintes classes: Insignificante ou Muito Baixa (83 a 113,5); Baixa (113,5 a 144); Média (144 a 174,5) e Alta (174,5 a 205).</idPurp>
